GUM DAMAR GOOD GRADE (B Grade)

It is obtain by sap extraction (tapping) of the damar trees. Cuts are made in the tree trunk when the tree is approximately 25 cm in diameter (about 20 years old). The cut is only a few centimeters wide at first, but becomes enlarged at every tapping and eventually becomes a hole of 15/20 cm in depth and width.

Dewaxed Gum Damar is used in the manufacture of cellulose lacquers & paint, imparting gloss and adhesive and preventing after-yellowing. It is prepared by dissolving the gum damar in a hydrocarbon solvent to separate a soluble fraction of the resin from the high-meelting, resinous fraction. The former fraction is used in the manufacturing process.

Gun Damar is used in foods as a clouding or glazing agent and for the manufacture of food gums.

Gum Damar is also used as an intermediate in the emulsification of perfumes and aromatic in soap manufacture and some cosmetic preparations.

Gum Damar is also use as a topical treatment in the early stages of leprosy. The damar is pounded and mixed with coconut oil before it is rubbed onto the patient’s skin.
